1. What is attestation?

When you present a certificate or document in a foreign country, it is required to determine the genuineness of that certificate or document. Therefore overseas government needs proof that the Indian certificate or document which you are holding is a genuine and not a fake, or the signatures of Indian officials on the documents are genuine.

2. Should I attest the Originals or photocopies?

Attestation can be done only on the original documents and not on the photocopy.

3. Is attestation possible on laminated documents?

Attestation is not possible on laminated document. We need to remove the lamination.

4. What is an Apostille and when it is required?

An Apostille is a process in which ministry of external affairs (MEA) puts a sticker on the back of the document. It is required for the documents which need to be present in the countries which are member Nations of Hague convection.

5. What is total turnaround time (TAT) to complete the process?

It depends upon the requirement and process of the documents.

6. What all supporting document required?

Requirement of supporting documents depend upon case to case. Generally we required photo copies of Mark sheet, Address proofs, lower qualification proof, passport size photographs, voter ID card, Passport copy, Visa Copy, 2 Passport size Photographs, SSC & HSC Certificates Copy.

7. What are the causes for refund?

In case ANR Overseas won’t able complete the process of documents from any of the department. Refund will be made as per the incomplete process.

8. What’s the need of giving passport copy?

Passport copy reveals the details of document holder therefore it is required as a supporting document for attestation.

9. Why attestation of document is required in overseas countries?

Attestation of document is required by every individual while travelling to their desired overseas country for the purpose of Job, Spouse Migration, Marriage Purpose, Permanent Migration, higher studies and business set up, opportunities available are immense but one needs to produce an Indian certificate be it educational or personal documents in to their desired overseas country, the host country needs to recognize it as a genuine document.

State Home Department is an Indian government organization which is part of every state of India. HD is responsible for authentication of personal documents and certificates.

12. How much original Documents are safe if sent through courier and registered post?

Original documents are totally safe if sent through good courier company & registered post. One should always put original documents inside the plastic sleeve and close the sleeve with cello tap before placing inside the good quality envelope. This will keep original documents safe from water, rough handling, rear & tear.

13. What is Document Attestation from Embassy/High Commission in India?

Document Attestation from Embassy/High Commission is a process of legalizations / authentications by verifying the genuineness of educational, personal & commercial documents from the respective Embassy/High Commission. This process needs to be followed by every individual while travelling to their desired country for the purpose Job, Spouse Migration, Marriage Purpose, Permanent Migration, higher studies and business set up, opportunities available are immense but one needs to produce an Indian certificate be it educational or personal documents in to their desired country, the host country needs to recognize it as a genuine document.
